For over 30 years, I’ve been chasing horizons in both large and small boats, teaching people to sail, running charters, and now building a global expedition fleet from a high-country ranch in Arizona.

I’m not an armchair sailor. I’m a USCG-licensed captain, Navy submariner, and ASA sailing instructor who’s spent decades teaching people to handle real boats in real conditions

My life on the water didn’t start with Nevado Raiders™. It started as a kid drawn to the ocean, then as a U.S. Navy submariner learning what it means to trust your crew, your vessel, and your decisions when there’s no room for mistakes.
Everything I’m doing with Nevado Raiders™ and Blue Rim 5™ is built on what you see here.
From there, I moved into charter work, sail training, deliveries, and small-boat adventures — helping people go from nervous at the dock to grinning at the helm. Big boats, small boats, flat water, rough water. I’ve seen a lot, and I’m still just getting started.
Catamaran Dan isn’t a character I invented for the internet. I'm the sum of years spent underway, fixing problems in real time, keeping people safe, and finding joy in every mile of coastline.

Nevado Raiders™ is my next chapter: a small-boat and guardian-vessel adventure fleet that will train together, explore coastlines, go snorkeling, hold racing events and have beach parties.....get to know the locals, and tell the truth about a rapidly warming world. We’ll move in stages, one stretch of coastline at a time, bringing real seamanship, real families, and real stories with us.
Blue Rim 5™ is the long-range expedition concept behind it all — a global coastal route that follows the blue edge of the world as long as it makes sense and the risks are acceptable. I’m starting small, learning fast, and inviting the right people to help build the fleet.
