Nevado Raiders: A Modern Viking Saga on the Water

⚓ Fleet Requirements & Preparation
Every Nevado Raider is responsible for their own vessel, just as Viking warriors brought their own weapons and shields to battle. Our fleet centers on trailerable Hobie Getaways, Hobie 16s, Racing Cats, and monuhull daysailers—fast, beach-launchable boats that echo the longship’s agility. Members provide their own trailer, gear, and essential equipment: waterproof bags, tents, coolers, safety kits, and the basics for life at sea and on shore. Preparation is key: sails must be tuned, gear balanced, and every item ready to endure salt, sand, and sun. The fleet’s strength lies in each Raider’s self-reliance—no weak links, no passengers, only adventurers. As is so important, there is safety in numbers.

🛠️ Support Roles
Not everyone who joins will sail, but every Raider contributes. Some will handle logistics support, keeping our supply chains moving. Others will document the adventure, creating videos, photos, and stories to spread across social media. On land, we need marketers, promoters, storytellers, and partners to connect with sponsors, culture groups, and sailing clubs. Just as the Vikings had blacksmiths, farmers, and storytellers supporting their voyages, the Nevado Raiders embrace all roles that fuel the saga. One of our ultimate goals is to sign a deal with a reality TV provider.

⛵ Support Vessels for Long Voyages
While our focus is on smaller, agile vessels that can be launched anywhere and raced in shallow water, the longer shoreline raids call for an additional advantage: a larger support vessel. One or more cruising catamarans or monohull sailboats could accompany the Hobie fleet, carrying extra provisions, a marine toilet, water, and even acting as a floating basecamp. Just as Viking longships sometimes sailed with supply craft, the Nevado Raiders recognize the value of having a mothership to extend our range (especially when we cross over to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Europe), provide backup in emergencies, and give the fleet a safe harbor during long stretches of coastal exploration. These support vessels will not replace the Hobie Cats—they will empower them.

🗺️ Destinations Showcase
Our raids span oceans, rivers, and lakes across the Americas and beyond. On desert lakes of the West we will train, race, and camp under vast skies. On the coasts of Baja and the Caribbean we will launch into turquoise waters, stopping to snorkel reefs, explore hidden coves, and race across bays that once echoed with the thunder of Viking oars. In time, the fleet will set its sights on crossing the Atlantic to Europe, retracing ancestral paths and connecting with Scandinavian culture groups who keep the old traditions alive. The destinations are limitless—but what we reveal here is only a fraction of where we will go.

🏕️ Life at Nevado Ranch Camp
At nearly 7,000 feet in the White Mountains of Arizona, Nevado Ranch Camp is the Raiders’ basecamp. April through June, the Ranch becomes both training ground and celebration hall. On the entertainment deck, music and firelight flow late into the night. The volleyball and badminton court sits on thick fescue grass, ready for matches between crewmates. Raiders gather around picnic tables for meals off the grill, swap stories under starlit skies, and map out routes for future raids. Those who stay at the Ranch will find coosh camping among juniper trees, shaded spots for tents and Class B vans, and wide-open lawns for gathering the fleet. No RVs—just raw adventure, simplicity, and camaraderie.

🧭 Training & Skill-Building
Not everyone who joins the Raiders has sailed before—but anyone with the right spirit can learn. On waters like Lake Roosevelt, AZ, we will teach new Raiders the fundamentals of sailing their own Hobie Cat: rigging, handling, navigation, and teamwork. Training sessions will include speed runs, mock races, and recovery drills. Just as Viking youths learned to row before they sailed the seas, new Raiders will build their skills close to home before venturing onto coastlines and open water. Our mission is to help you master your vessel so you can confidently raid with the fleet.

🤝 Brotherhood & Sisterhood
The Nevado Raiders are not just sailors; we are a fellowship of explorers. Each raid is an act of camaraderie: setting up camp together, sharing food and drink with locals, racing side-by-side, and celebrating victories at day’s end. We draw on the Viking ethos of courage and kinship—our sails are banners, our vessels our longships, and our adventures a saga written on the water. Membership is selective: not for the faint of heart, but for those with the “right stuff”—adventurous souls who thrive under wind and sun.

🎬 Future Vision
Our adventures are more than just trips—they are stories in the making. One of our core goals is to grow so daring and distinctive that our raids evolve into a reality TV project that will make shows like Below Decks look tame. Imagine audiences worldwide watching us race across tropical bays, share fireside feasts with villagers, navigate storms, and live a saga that is both ancient and modern. The Nevado Raiders are building toward legend.

🛍️ Merchandise & Branding
The Viking shield wall has become the modern T-shirt wall—a way for land-based supporters and seafaring Raiders alike to carry the banner. Our merchandise will feature slogans like “Better Beachy than Bitchy©”, “Raid on the Water… Reset on the Mountain©,” and “From Fjords to Desert Winds©” Shirts, hats, flags, and gear bags will unify the fleet and spread the word on shore. Each item represents more than clothing—it is a piece of the Raider identity.
